SCFinderPlugin Issues in Versions

SCFinderPlugin adds support for viewing Subversion status when viewing a working copy in the Finder.

The plugin makes modifications to OS X which have caused crashes in Versions in the past. It appears that changes in Mavericks increase the frequency of these crashes. Unfortunately, it's up to the SCFinderPlugin team to update the plugin and there hasn't been any activity on the project for quite some time.

Currently, the only suggestion we have to resolve these crashes is to uninstall SCFinderPlugin.

The steps to uninstall SCFinderPlugin can vary depending a number of factors including how it was initially installed. The steps below outline the several locations that we have been able to document so far. If after following these steps, you still see crashes related to the plugin, or you still receive notifications to remove it when launching Versions, please contact technical support.

Removing SCFinderPlugin:

  1. Make sure you have administrative privileges, then trash the following files, if found:

    • /Library/Contextual Menu Items/SCFinderPlugin.plugin
    • /Library/Receipts/SCPlugin.pkg
    • /Library/LaunchAgents/org.tigris.scplugin.launch.plist
  2. Next, open Terminal and run the following command:

    launchctl remove org.tigris.scplugin.launch

  3. Finally, you should rebuild Launch Services to eliminate any caching of the plugin. Run this command in Terminal:

/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user
